Pakistan’s military leadership underscored the necessity of bringing to justice those responsible for the May 9 riots, including the planners, perpetrators, abettors, and facilitators.
During the 83rd Formation Commanders Conference, held at the General Headquarters and presided over by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan military highlighted the crucial link between national stability and the swift, transparent administration of justice. The statement underscored the importance of effectively addressing disruptive elements to safeguard the country’s stability.
In a detailed statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, it was noted that the conference, which was attended by top military officers, including Corps Commanders and Formation Commanders, coincided with the anniversary of the violent disturbances that erupted following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The military forum addressed various threats to the nation, including politically motivated digital terrorism. Such actions, supported internationally, aim to undermine state institutions and spread despair among Pakistanis.
Furthermore, the forum reviewed national security challenges and the Army’s strategy to tackle these threats. Technological advancements for the Army were also discussed to enhance operational capabilities.
Concerns about cross-border violations and the use of Afghan soil for terrorism were expressed. The forum acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people in newly merged districts in combating terrorism and emphasized the need for their socio-economic upliftment.
The conference ended with reaffirming the military’s commitment to national security and support for government initiatives aimed at economic growth and social stability. The Army’s leadership also paid tribute to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s security.
