The Pakistan Army has extended its lead at the 35th National Games on Thursday, securing a dominant haul of 31 gold medals in a single day. Their victories came across multiple disciplines, including athletics, swimming, and team sports. This impressive sweep solidified their position at the top of the medal table.
At the conclusion of the day’s pulsating events, the Army’s tally stood at 144 gold medals. They also have 72 silver and 42 bronze medals for a commanding total. The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) maintained its second-place position. WAPDA added 15 golds to reach a total of 61 top honours.

Pakistan Navy held steady in third place overall with 28 gold medals. Pakistan Army also clinched the women’s swimming general trophy earlier in the day. Olympian Jehanara Nabi was instrumental in this victory, securing five individual golds. She also contributed to three team gold medals for the department.
The Army dominated the swimming discipline, winning 12 gold medals. This was eight more than second-placed Sindh, which managed four golds. Among the provincial teams, Punjab leads the regional medal race. They have 10 gold medals and 84 overall medals so far.

The host province, Sindh, follows closely behind Punjab with five gold medals. The 35th National Games feature 14 competing teams from across Pakistan. These include all major provinces, federal territories, and key national departments. The event is scheduled to run until December 13 in Karachi.
