Pakistan’s and Malaysia’s hockey match in the Asian Champions Trophy ended in a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
In the match held at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China, Pakistan relinquished a 2-0 lead. Nadeem Ahmed and Sufyan Khan scored for Pakistan, initially putting them in a strong position.
The game remained goalless until the end of the first quarter. Sufyan’s goal gave Pakistan the lead, followed by Nadeem extending it in the third quarter. However, Malaysia narrowed the gap with a penalty corner goal, and Aiman Rozemi equalized five minutes before the end, tying the game.
The draw was a disappointing outcome for Pakistan, especially after holding a two-goal advantage. Despite the draw, Pakistan’s Ammad Butt was named Player of the Match, receiving a memento and a $200 cheque.

The eighth edition of the Asian Champions Trophy began on Sunday in China. Six teams are competing in a round-robin format, with the top four advancing to the semifinals scheduled for September 16. The third-place playoff and the final will occur on September 17.
