Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced a remarkable achievement for the province – issuing over 10 million driving licenses in 2023. Naqvi shared this significant milestone in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
In his announcement, Naqvi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Punjab Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for their diligent efforts in reaching this impressive number of issued driving licenses quickly.
The accomplishment reflects the efficient administrative and technological processes implemented by these bodies in Punjab.
Recent Changes in Driving License Fee
In a related development, the Punjab government made a notable increase in the driving license fee on December 5, raising it from Rs 60 to Rs 1,000. This decision was taken during the 33rd meeting of the provincial cabinet, chaired by Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Despite the fee hike, the Lahore Traffic Police announced on X that applications for driving licenses could still be made at the old rate until December 31, providing a brief window for applicants to avail of the previous fee structure.
