The Supreme Court on Wednesday nullified Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Siddique Baloch’s disqualification over his fake degree and subsequently ordered reelection in NA-154.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Saqib Nisar delivered its ruling after hearing a review petition filed by Baloch.
The court also ordered reelection in his constituency NA-154, (Lodhran).
Siddique Baloch won the National Assembly seat in 2013 election but was declared ineligible over his fake academic degree by a local election tribunal in Multan on his rival Jahangir Tareen’s petition.
Last month, the apex court ruled against tribunal’s decision and stayed reelection on the seat that was scheduled for Oct 11, restoring his assembly memberships.
Tareen, who is a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), vows to contest the elections and defeat his rival in the by-polls.
