Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the One Punjab One Standard policy, launching the province’s first coordinated initiative to introduce uniform standards for public infrastructure and civic design.
The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by the chief minister in Lahore. Officials reviewed long-term planning strategies and agreed, in principle, to establish an autonomous authority to supervise urban design and implementation.
Under the new framework, the government will prepare a comprehensive standardised design manual. This document will guide the construction and layout of roads, green belts, signboards, and footpaths across Punjab.
The One Punjab One Standard policy also covers roadside kiosks and small shop cabins. Authorities said uniform designs will improve visual consistency and reduce unregulated construction.
In addition, the policy aims to standardise public buildings. Schools, hospitals, bus stops, and other civic facilities will follow consistent design principles in every district.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing outlined plans to extend these standards province-wide. The objective is to create cohesive urban environments while improving functionality and public experience.

Maryam Nawaz stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building organised and attractive cities. She emphasised that consistent infrastructure and road furniture contribute to a strong urban identity.
The policy marks a significant shift toward structured planning and standardisation across Punjab’s districts.
