As winter brings high utility bills, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) announced a price increase for gas this fiscal year, according to a notification issued on Tuesday.
Ogra has approved an 8.71% price rise for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) consumers and a 25.78% increase for those of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
The notification stated Ogra has forwarded its decision to raise gas prices to the federal government for final approval.
The proposed average gas prices are Rs1,778.35 per MMBTU for Sui Northern and Rs1,762.51 per MMBTU for Sui Southern, the notification outlined.
“Under Section 8(2) of the OGRA Ordinance, 2002, Ogra’s decisions dated December 17, 2024, have determined the Review of Estimated Revenue Requirement (RERR) for SNGPL & SSGCL for FY 2024-25,” the document explained.
These determinations have been submitted to the federal government to set category-wise natural gas sale prices as mandated by Section 8(3) of the OGRA Ordinance.
Ogra added that they will officially announce any price changes advised by the government. Until then, the current natural gas sale prices will remain in effect.
