Pakistan shines on the global stage as Gujranwala-based athlete Nooh Dastgir Butt secures the gold medal in the Hercules Columns competition at the Pahlavon Mahmud Strongman Games 2024 in Khiva, Uzbekistan.

Nooh’s remarkable achievement adds to Pakistan’s sporting glory and marks a significant milestone in his career.

The weightlifter competed against athletes from 16 countries in the contest organized by the World Strongman Competition. Butt demonstrated unparalleled strength and determination to emerge victorious in this prestigious event.

His father and coach, Dastgir Butt, expressed immense pride in Nooh’s accomplishment. He highlighted that his son would bring further glory to the nation through continued success in future competitions.

In August 2022, Butt won the first gold medal for the country in the weightlifting men’s 109-plus kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The then 24-year-old set a new Games record of 173kg in the snatch portion of the event after lifting 170kg in his first attempt.

In Clean and Jerk, he lifted 232kg, totalling 405kg, to claim gold for Pakistan.
