The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has appointed Lieutenant General (retd) Nigar Johar as its brand ambassador for women’s empowerment and initiatives, as reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan on Tuesday, highlighting Pakistan’s progress in recognizing women’s leadership.
Lt Gen (retd) Nigar Johar’s new role as RCCI’s brand ambassador is a big win for women’s empowerment. She will promote programs that support women in business and leadership. This move shows RCCI’s dedication to advancing gender equality in Pakistan.
Lt Gen (retd) Nigar Johar’s Achievements
Lt Gen (retd) Nigar Johar has broken many barriers. In 2020, she became Pakistan’s first female army officer to become lieutenant general. Then, in 2021, she was named the first female colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps (AMC). Her achievements inspire women nationwide.
The announcement came during the “SHE Leads A Tribute to Women” event at Chamber House on Monday. This ceremony honoured the strength and contributions of Pakistani women. Lt Gen (retd) Johar, Pakistan’s only female three-star general, was the chief guest. RCCI President Usman Shahkat praised her: “She has redefined what is possible for women in Pakistan and stands as a beacon of hope and aspiration.”
This appointment strengthens RCCI’s efforts to empower women. Lt Gen (retd) Johar’s leadership can encourage more women to enter fields traditionally led by men. It also showcases RCCI’s commitment to supporting women in professional roles.
