NIC Renewal Services Now Available at Karachi Post Offices

Selected post offices in Karachi, including the General Post Offices (GPOs), have introduced services like quick queues and National Identity Card (NIC) renewals. However, many residents are unaware of these conveniences, with Child Registration Certificate and Family Registration Certificate being exceptions.

Ten post offices, notably at Saddar and II Chandragar Road, have integrated NIC service counters connected to the NADRA system. These counters facilitate NIC renewals, marital status updates, lost NIC replacements, and updates in address, signatures, and photos.

Despite these facilities at the Saddar GPO, their usage remains low due to the public’s limited awareness. As a result, the GPO plans an awareness campaign. In contrast, NADRA mega centres still witness long queues. Only 11 applications were registered at the Saddar GPO recently.

NADRA has planned a social media drive to increase awareness. It’s worth noting that post offices offer NIC renewals for up to a year post-expiry, but they lack some services like biometric verification for blood relatives.
