After torrential rain killed 10 in Balochistan, the Met Department predicts more showers starting Wednesday.
The Meteorological Centre forecasts a “powerful” rain spell across various districts starting Wednesday.
Authorities, including the PDMA and district administrators, have been warned to brace for the upcoming weather. “Heavy rains and thunderstorms will affect coastal districts like Gwadar, Kech, and others within 48 hours,” a senior official stated.
Moreover, the Met Department warned that the rainfall might trigger urban and flash flooding. Due to lightning risks, residents should avoid open areas and not shelter under trees during storms.

Following recent floods, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti formed a committee investigating urban flooding in Quetta.
Spokesperson Shahid Rind said the committee would review infrastructure projects to avert future flooding. They will have complete access to relevant records and personnel. Previously, the government declared an emergency in 25 districts after severe rain and flooding.
Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat reported that Quetta received 156mm of rain, causing extensive urban flooding. Shafqaat disclosed that over 200 employees might be dismissed for negligence. He cited encroachments blocking rainwater drainage as a primary issue.
Blockages also caused major flooding in Quetta’s streets, and the Makran region experienced significant damage.
