Another National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Mega Centre has been established at Karachi’s Safoora Chorangi to facilitate citizens.
The NADRA mega centre at Safoora will be inaugurated on May 15. Afterwards, residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Safoora, Gadap, and surrounding areas will be able to access the new mega centre.
According to NADRA Director General (DG) Ehtesham Shahid, the Mega Centre will operate in two shifts, from 8 AM to 12 PM. It will initially accommodate over 700 individuals daily, with plans to increase capacity to 1,500 by year-end.
The Mega Centre will offer visitors air-conditioned halls, seating arrangements, and parking facilities. Additionally, 20 operational counters have been set up for citizens’ convenience.
A waiting room with 250 seats has also been arranged for applicants inside the centre. DG NADRA mentioned that two more registration centres would be established in different areas of Karachi.
Last month, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi waived the fee on death certificates for public convenience and directed the authorities to ensure the complete security of citizens’ data. Naqvi praised the excellent performance of Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, the current chairman of NADRA.
As part of a plantation campaign, the minister planted saplings on the lawn of the NADRA headquarters.
