According to insiders familiar with the development, this follows direct orders from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is slated to manage the first commercial flight from this new aviation hub, highlighting a pivotal advancement in regional transportation links. Recent collaborative efforts saw PIA and the Airports Authority convening for a thorough five-hour session to iron out the operational details.

In preparation for the launch, PIA is set to position staff and vital systems, including check-in technologies, to facilitate seamless operations from the outset. The airport, established with a substantial $246 million investment from China, is designed to spur significant growth in trade and tourism within the area. As an incentive to foster initial operational success, PIA will be exempt from fees during the airport’s first year.
