A new private airline, Air Karachi, has applied to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) for a Regular Public Transport (RPT) license. It aims to launch flights across various cities in Pakistan.
According to PCAA sources, the decision to issue the license will depend on approval from the federal government. The airline has already been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), once the license is granted, Air Karachi will commence its operations.
Karachi’s business community first announced the new venture. Businessman Hanif Gohar revealed that Air Karachi will start operations with an initial investment of Rs 5 billion, each shareholder contributing Rs 50 million.
Imran, a former Southern Commander (retd) and Air Vice Marshal, has been appointed CEO of Air Karachi. During its initial phase, the airline plans to lease three aircraft.

Key shareholders in the airline include prominent figures like Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, SM Tanveer, Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani.
In recent months, several local airlines, including Jet Green, Q Airways, Go Green Air, Q Aviation, and Liberty Air, have also approached the PCAA for licenses to begin operations in Pakistan. Additionally, Air Indus has applied to resume its flight services.
PCAA officials have stated that the growing number of license applications is a positive sign for Pakistan’s economy, potentially boosting the aviation sector.
