National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) has secured a pivotal project in Neom, Saudi Arabia, as Acting Managing Director Zargham Eshaq Khan disclosed. This marks a first for any Pakistani company.
The core of this project lies in the energy domain and was awarded by the Saudi Electric Company (SEC), emphasizing Nespak’s expanding global engineering prominence.
The firm will oversee the construction management of projects dealing with Extra High Voltage (EHV), High Voltage (HV), and High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) in areas like Neom Bay, Neom Mountain, and Neom Phase II.
Allocated a budget of 46.5 million Saudi Riyals (around Rs3.794 billion), it has a planned three-year completion period.
The firm mentioned that Nespak’s acquisition of the project showcases its workforce’s exceptional skills and dedication.
Founded in 1973 by the Pakistani government, Nespak aimed to nurture skilled engineers, attain self-sufficiency in engineering consultancy, and replace foreign consultants. It now boasts over 4,500 employees.
Neom
Regarding Neom, it’s a facet of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s Vision 2030. This strategy intends to broaden Saudi’s oil-centric economy and adapt its society, fostering a versatile economic structure ready for contemporary challenges. Neom has ambitious plans, from a floating industrial zone and a global trade centre to luxurious tourist destinations and a state-of-the-art linear city using sustainable energy.
