On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the quarterly adjustment for October-December 2024 will reduce rates by Rs1.90 per unit nationwide, effective from April to June 2025. Karachi will receive a larger reduction of Rs3.02 per unit, while other areas will see a decrease of Rs0.46.

NEPRA’s February hearings underscored the need for affordable electricity. Alongside this quarterly relief, monthly adjustments like January’s extra dip for Karachi—aim to steady costs. Bills will reflect the savings starting April 2025, easing the strain on households and businesses.
Sharif unveiled a Rs7.41 per unit cut for homes and Rs7.59 for industries, calling it an “Eid gift” to spark economic growth. With these combined efforts, the government seeks to balance affordability and a reliable power supply for Pakistan’s future.
