Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan’s problems stem from more than just Imran Khan. The PML-N president declared that “those who brought him to power” are equally responsible for the country’s challenges.
He made these remarks while addressing newly elected parliamentarians in Lahore. The gathering followed a sweeping victory for the PML-N in recent by-elections.
Sharif declared that “lies, abuse, indecency, immorality, and chaos” have been defeated. He framed the by-election results as a public rejection of these elements.

The former premier contrasted his time in office with the PTI’s government. He claimed Pakistan was progressing rapidly and had achieved freedom from IMF programs during his tenure. He accused the PTI government of reversing all economic and diplomatic gains. According to Sharif, the previous administration brought the country’s economy and diplomacy to the brink of collapse.

He also criticised the PTI’s culture and its approach to the by-elections. He questioned their “boycott” after the party fielded candidates, including Omar Ayub’s wife. Sharif praised the current leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He credited them with saving the country from default and reducing inflation.

He expressed confidence that Pakistan is now set to reach new heights of development. This optimism followed the PML-N’s strong performance in the by-polls. The party won all six contested National Assembly seats. It also secured six out of seven Punjab Assembly constituencies.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also spoke at the event. She asserted that ending Nawaz Sharif’s political career is not easy, citing past conspiracies and the hardships endured by the family.
