More than six million citizens accessed identity services through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Pak-ID mobile application during 2025, reflecting rising public trust in digital government platforms.
In a statement, NADRA thanked citizens for their confidence in the Pak-ID system. The authority said the app has improved access to identity services and reduced the need for in-person visits.
Officials noted that the growing use of Pak-ID supports Pakistan’s broader push toward digital governance. The platform streamlines registration, renewal, and record updates nationwide.
Clarification on Updating Marital Status
Earlier, NADRA issued a clarification on how divorced citizens can update their marital status and remove an ex-spouse’s name from CNIC records.
According to the authority, individuals may change their marital status from “Married” to “Divorced” once all legal requirements are met. Applicants must first obtain an official divorce or khula decree from a family court or arbitration council.
They must then visit the Union Council where the marriage was registered. At the office, applicants submit a request for a computerised divorce certificate, along with copies of their CNICs, divorce details, and witness information.

Once issued, both former spouses must separately update their records with NADRA by submitting the computerised divorce certificate. NADRA clarified this process after a citizen reported that their CNIC still showed a former spouse despite receiving a divorce certificate.
The authority reiterated that individual record updates remain mandatory to ensure accuracy in the national database.
