The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced a more efficient process for obtaining the Child Registration Certificate (CRC), also known as the B-Form to improve efficiency and ensure that every child in Pakistan receives a legal form of identification. Parents can apply either in person or online through the Pak ID App, which provides clear information regarding the required documents and fee structure.

Parents can apply at NADRA centres or online for children under one year using the Pak ID App. The in-person application process includes:

  1. Obtain a token at the reception.
  2. Undergo biometric verification (one parent).
  3. Submit the child’s details, including photos and biometrics (if required).
  4. Review and attest the printed form by a gazette officer or public representative.
  5. Pay the fee after receiving a confirmation SMS.

The Pak ID App enables parents to upload documents and verify biometrics for infants, making access easier.

Required Documents

Applicants must provide:

  • Parents’ original Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).
  • Child’s birth certificate from the Union Council or Cantonment Board.
  • Proof of legal custody for adopted children.
  • Citizenship certificate, if applicable.

Age-Based Requirements

  • Under 3 years: No presence or photo needed.
  • 3-10 years: Photograph required.
  • 10-18 years: Photograph, fingerprints, and iris scan mandatory.

Fee Structure

  • Normal: Rs50, processed in seven working days.
  • Executive: Rs500, processed in one working day.

NADRA’s initiative aligns with Pakistan’s digital transformation efforts, following initiatives such as simplified CNIC processes. The B-Form ensures children’s legal identity, which is vital for accessing education and healthcare.
