NAB has decided not to dispute Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retired) Safdar’s acquittal in the Avenfield reference.

Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Captain (retired) Safdar Awan, have been cleared by NAB Rawalpindi.

DG NAB Rawalpindi, Farmanullah, approved.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) acquitted Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Captain retired Safdar Awan on September 29.

After hearing both sides’ arguments, a divisional bench of the IHC reserved its judgment.

An accountability court sentenced former premier Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison and an £8 million punishment on July 6, 2018.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined £2 million. Safdar, her husband, received a year in prison.
