Tesla Inc. CEO and owner of X (Former Twitter), Elon Musk, addressed the audience at the Atreju convention in Rome, Italy, on Saturday.

Elon Musk is scrutinised for sharing a parody video of Kamala Harris on his social media handle X, breaching platform rules.

The Tesla CEO reposted an AI-generated video originally shared by Reagan, labelled as a parody. According to the NYT, the video depicted the Democratic candidate thanking Biden for “exposing his senility.”

Critics argue that Musk’s post lacked a necessary disclaimer. Despite Reagan’s clear labelling, Musk commented, “This is amazing,” accompanied by a laughing emoji. Internet personality Alex Howard further highlighted this issue, questioning whether X would amend its policies to permit such content during an election year.

This is amazing 😂

In April 2023, X updated its policy to address misleading content, stating that manipulated media likely to cause widespread confusion must be labelled or removed.

In response, Harris emphasized the genuine freedom, opportunity, and security her campaign offers, contrasting it with what she described as the “fake, manipulated lies” promoted by figures like Musk and Donald Trump.
