Murad Saeed resigns from the Senate, adding fresh momentum to political tensions surrounding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The PTI leader, who has remained out of public view for months, submitted his resignation to party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
In his message, Saeed did not stop at stepping down. He urged PTI lawmakers to resign from both the Senate and the National Assembly as a coordinated protest.
His decision comes amid ongoing political and legal developments linked to former prime minister Imran Khan.
Murad Saeed Resigns from Senate
As Murad Saeed resigns from the Senate, the federal government confirmed new steps regarding Imran Khan’s medical care. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry announced that authorities have decided to transfer Khan to a hospital for eye treatment.
The minister said officials formed a medical board to supervise the treatment process. He also stated that the government facilitated phone contact between Khan and his sons.
Tariq Fazal urged political stakeholders not to politicise health-related matters. He asked PTI leaders to avoid what he described as unnecessary propaganda or point-scoring.
According to the minister, the state must provide facilities to every prisoner under the law. He maintained that authorities continue to meet their responsibilities regarding Khan’s medical care.
Separately, Mohsin Naqvi indicated that authorities may shift Imran Khan to the new Islamabad Model Jail once it becomes operational.

Naqvi shared the update during a visit to the under-construction facility. He also reviewed progress at the trainee officers’ hostel at the National Police Academy.
Officials described the visit as part of routine oversight of security and training infrastructure projects. The government has not announced a specific timeline for any transfer.
Murad Saeed’s resignation signals internal pressure within PTI to adopt stronger protest measures. By urging party lawmakers to resign collectively, he appears to advocate a unified response.
However, the party leadership has not publicly confirmed any decision regarding mass resignations. For now, only Saeed’s resignation stands as a formal step.
Meanwhile, the government continues to frame its actions around legal obligations and institutional procedure.
