The Mumbai Police arrested a man from Bandra East for threatening to kill actor Salman Khan unless he received ₹ 2 crore. Officials identified the suspect as Azam Mohammad Mustafa, who they apprehended on Wednesday.
This incident followed closely after the arrest of a 20-year-old tattoo artist from Noida named Gufran Khan. Earlier in the week, he threatened Salman Khan and Bandra East MLA Zeeshan Siddique, the son of the late Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique. Baba Siddique, a known associate of Salman Khan and instrumental in reconciling Khan with Shah Rukh Khan in 2013, was fatally shot on October 12.
The Mumbai Traffic Police’s control room received the anonymous threat against Salman Khan, prompting immediate action. Gufran Khan, the arrested tattoo artist, admitted his intent to send another threatening message to extort money but was caught before he could proceed.
In April, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for an attack outside Salman Khan’s residence and the murder of Baba Siddique in a Facebook post. The post, attributed to gang associate Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, stated that Siddique was targeted due to his alleged connections with Dawood Ibrahim and his closeness to Salman Khan, along with the police custody death of Anuj Thapan, a suspect in the shooting at Khan’s house.
The Bishnoi gang, known for murdering musician Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022, has expressed a vendetta against Salman Khan over his alleged killing of blackbucks in 1998, an act that outraged the Bishnoi community who revere the animal. Lawrence Bishnoi, during a 2018 court appearance, declared his intention to kill Salman Khan, stating, “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur. Everyone will know once we take action. I have not done anything as of now; they are accusing me of crimes for no reason.”
