The Mufti Shahmeer Murder adds to Balochistan’s grim tally, with two JUI-F leaders slain in Khuzdar earlier this month and another, Mir Aslam Khan Umrani, gunned down last year in Naseerabad over a water feud.
The province is reeling from a wave of targeted killings. Umrani’s death on the National Highway saw attackers flee after riddling his car with bullets, per ARY News. Now, Shahmeer’s slaying—post-prayer, point-blank underscores the peril. Authorities hope clues from the ongoing investigation will stem the tide.
