On June 2, 2025, Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, became the first individual content creator to surpass 400 million subscribers on YouTube, outpacing T-Series by over 100 million.

Celebrating this milestone on X, Donaldson reflected, “A decade ago, everyone told me I’d never make it. I worked hard for seven years before anyone noticed me.”

MrBeast began his journey in 2012 by creating gaming videos, but his channel took off in 2017 with a viral video in which he counted 100,000. He has become a global icon known for his high-stakes challenges, including giveaways of millions of dollars, and his philanthropic efforts, such as funding cataract surgeries and housing the homeless in Jamaica. At 27, he is recognised as the youngest self-made billionaire, significantly redefining digital content creation.

400,000,000 subscribers! A decade ago before I blew up everyone in my life told me I was to obsessed and constantly told I’d never make it. Despite that I was in love with making content and grinded every moment my eyes were open for 7 years before anyone started watching. I… pic.twitter.com/GkAhG8o2rj

In September 2024, the Jimmy Donaldson YouTube empire encountered controversy when five contestants from Beast Games filed a lawsuit. They alleged unsafe working conditions, unpaid labour, and a “culture of misogyny” on the set of the $5 million game show. MrBeast addressed the issue on X, asserting that footage would demonstrate that the allegations were “blown out of proportion.” However, he did not release the footage to avoid spoiling the show.

From 341 million subscribers in January to 400 million in five months, MrBeast’s growth reflects his relentless drive. His YouTube creator 2025 influence extends beyond metrics, with initiatives like MrBeast Burger and Feastables shaping his brand, per Bloomberg. The Beast Games lawsuit remains a hurdle, but his milestone cements his dominance, inspiring creators worldwide, per The Guardian.
