Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan lambasted the Chief Minister of India’s Himachal Pradesh state for objecting to the Pakistan-India match at Dharamsala.
PTI chief while talking to media said “Pakistan has to play a World Cup match in Dharamsala under international obligation. The Himachal Pradesh CM issued an irresponsible statement against the match,”
“Instead of extending hospitality, he (the chief minister) chose to make an irresponsible and wrong statement,” he said.
Pakistan should take stock of the situation and refuse to play in Dharamsala, he demanded.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had said he was not in favour of India playing Pakistan in Dharamshala over Pathankot attacks.
Pakistan has threatened to pull out of the ICC World Twenty20 unless the Indian government gave a public confirmation of strong security arrangements at the venue.
Pakistan are scheduled to play arch-rivals India at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association ground in Dharamsala in their second World T20 fixture on March 19.
The government of India’s northern state of Himachal Pradesh refused to provide security for the upcoming World T20 tie, citing a January attack on an Indian army base.
“The statement by the Himachal Pradesh chief minister is an irresponsible one and is totally against the standards of hospitality and hosting,” Imran told reporters.
