Karachi: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has announced to stage protest demonstrations against remarks of Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar, who lashed out at MQM chief yesterday for his speech against Rangers.
Nisar on Monday said Altaf Hussain in his speech on Sunday night crossed all limits of civility, politeness and gentility and used worst language against security and defence institutions.
“Urdu-speaking community is civilized and cultured, whether Altaf Hussain is representing it or humiliating it with his abusive and disgraceful language,” the minister asked.
He said Pakistan government would take up Altaf’s hate speech with UK authorities.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also flayed Altaf Hussain, claiming that MQM had been collecting extortion in Karachi for last three decades.
Speaking on Samaa’s programme “Nadeem Malik Live”, Asif said that Altaf Hussain was issuing irresponsible statements from London.
Meanwhile, FIRs were registered against Altaf Hussain in 16 different police stations of Sindh for allegedly speaking against security forces.
The ministers’ remarks drew reaction from MQM.
Senior MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar censured Khawaja Asif and Chaudhry Nisar. Talking to media, he said Altaf Hussain and MQM cannot be separated.
He said MQM would protest in Karachi on Tuesday against the ministers’ remarks.
MQM’s Coordination Committee also condemned the lodging of cases and warned the party cannot be browbeaten through such stratagems.
