Sarfaraz Merchant, a prime suspect in MQM London money laundering case has confirmed that statement attributed to him on social media are genuine.

A pre-interview briefing of Sarfaraz Merchant with London Police highlighting various aspects of the money laundering case against MQM leaders in London, has been leaked on social media.

Merchant, a suspects in money laundering case against Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leaders, confessed that a statement attributed to him on the letterhead of London’s Metropolitan Police is genuine.

Talking to local news channel ‘ARY News’, Sarfaraz Merchant declared the pre-interview document as genuine. He said one page of the six-page document has emerged on social media.

The paper bears the names of two London police officers, Stewart Mathews and Stephen Waterworth who were present during the pre-interview session conducted under money-laundering charges at Belgravia Police Station.

He claimed that the document has been leaked to the social media by one of the two leaders of MQM, one of which based in UK and other in Pakistan.

Merchant said that he will inform Altaf Hussain about the names of these two MQM leaders. “If Scotland Yard will ask, I will also inform them about the names of these two persons,” he further said.

Sarfaraz Merchant said that the people within the party ranks are working against Altaf Hussain.

Merchant, a Karachi businessman, is among six men being currently probed by London Police for money laundering charges including MQM chief Altaf Hussain. (Photo News / Ary News)
