Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided not support joint opposition over the issue of Panama Papers, sources said earlier today.
According to sources privy to the development, MQM has reservations over offshore companies of the leaders of opposition parties, therefore, the party has decided not to support the joint opposition.
The MQM leadership has summoned Mian Ateeq and Barrister Saif to Karachi for deliberations on the issue.
Citing ‘reservations over some matters’, MQM also did not attend a joint meeting called by opposition party leaders on Tuesday to formulate a joint strategy after the prime minister’s speech in parliament.
Meanwhile, reacting on the development, Pakistan People’s Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan said MQM is independent in making its decision.
Also, the second round of joint opposition meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m tomorrow (Wednesday) in the chamber of Syed Khursheed Shah.
