Reports stated on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, that Liverpool is progressing in discussions to secure a new contract for Mohamed Salah, and there is increasing optimism that he will remain at Anfield beyond this season.

The 32-year-old Egyptian star, whose deal expires this summer alongside teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, has fueled hope among fans. While Real Madrid eyes Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk hinted at progress on his extension after Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Fulham.

Although no deal has been finalized, there is optimism regarding Salah and Van Dijk. Salah, the Premier League’s top scorer this season with 27 goals, has scored 243 goals in 394 appearances since joining Roma in 2017. His achievements include winning a Champions League title and helping Liverpool secure their first English league title in 30 years in 2020, among eight trophies overall.

Salah’s Future: Saudi or Anfield?

Despite Saudi Arabia’s significant financial interest, Salah has consistently preferred to remain with Liverpool. In November, he expressed that he was “more out than in,” but by December, he described a potential deal as “far away.” As negotiations progress, the two-time African Footballer of the Year may extend his legacy with the Reds.

Salah’s potential stay strengthens Liverpool’s title challenge. His scoring ability and history make him a key player worth retaining.
