All the missionary schools will remain closed until January 18 in Lahore. While schools in the rest of the country re-open today.
A decision to the effect of a weeklong extension (for Church schools in Lahore) in the already extended winter vacation was taken just a day before reopening of schools all across Pakistan.
“Christian schools including Don Bosco High School, Saint Anthony School, St. Peter’s High School, and Lahore Convent will resume didactics from January 19,” sources told the media.
The vacations were extended following a brutal Taliban assault which killed 150 people, mostly children last month.
The government had announced an extension in the winter vacations due to security threats after the deadly attack on the military-run school in Peshawar killed 150 people, including 134 children.
Private sector schools, colleges and universities have meanwhile been issued with strict guidelines with requirements including having guards, the sources said, adding that schools would be de-licensed if they did not implement the new set of security rules.
