A bench of Islamabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea of Mir Shakilur Rehman, owner of Geo Group, for removal of his name from the FIR registered against his television channel.

A single bench of IHC comprises of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, heard the case.

Mir Shakil in his plea sent from Dubai requested  the court for removal of his name from the FIR filed against the controversial morning show transmissions of Geo news channel.

The court dismissed the petition due to non-pursuance of the case.

Justice Siddiqui in his remarks said that the petitioner should at first get bail before arrest and file the copy of the bail order in the court, after which he could file a plea for withdrawal of the FIR against him.
