The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has declared a notification shared on social media that claims September 6 will be a public holiday in observance of Pakistan’s Defense Day false.
The Ministry’s Fact Checker emphasized that spreading fake news is unethical, illegal, and harmful to the nation.
The fact-checking report also stated that everyone must discourage such irresponsible behaviour.
September 6 is an important date in Pakistan’s history. It celebrates the nation’s resilience and unity, the bravery of the armed forces, and the strength of national solidarity.
Defense Day is dedicated to Pakistan’s unity in protecting its sovereignty and the well-being of its citizens.
The Federal Cabinet Division has confirmed that September 6 will not be a public holiday 2024.
However, the federal government retains the authority to declare national holidays, as it did with Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28, marking Pakistan’s nuclear tests.
