Meta Platforms Inc. has announced a historic $600 billion investment in United States infrastructure and jobs over the next three years. This monumental commitment will primarily fund the construction of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) data centres, marking a significant acceleration in the company’s pursuit of superintelligence.
The strategic move aims to build the computational foundation required for next-generation AI. CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously confirmed the company’s intent to aggressively “front-load capacity” to prepare for the most demanding computational futures.
Meta’s investment underscores its primary strategic focus: achieving artificial general intelligence, not artificial superintelligence. This long-term goal involves creating machines that can outthink humans across a broad range of disciplines.

To power this ambition, the company is channelling unprecedented capital into its AI infrastructure. As a result, Meta has already forecast “notably larger” capital expenditures for the upcoming year.
The $600 billion pledge builds upon several other major financial moves by the tech giant. Just last month, Meta secured a $27 billion financing deal with Blue Owl Capital to fund its Louisiana data centre, which stands as its largest global project to date.
Furthermore, in October, the company announced a $1.5 billion investment to break ground on its 29th global data centre, located in Texas. Collectively, these projects represent the initial phase of a much broader, multi-hundred-billion-dollar strategy to construct a network of large-scale AI data centres across the United States.
