On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the ‘Kisan Card Programme’ in Hafizabad, enhancing financial aid for small-scale farmers.
Through this program, farmers can secure loans of up to Rs 150,000 each crop season to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides using their Kisan Cards.
At the launch, CM Maryam Nawaz stated the program’s budget had increased, raising the distribution of Kisan Cards from 500,000 to 750,000.
For registration, applicants can text their ID card number to 8070 from a registered mobile. The initiative also offers a free laser leveller for farmers cultivating wheat on 12.5 to 25 acres.

Moreover, she announced that farmers with over 25 acres would receive free tractors and stated that they planned to rent agricultural equipment at no profit.
Future projects include solarizing 7,000 tubewells and establishing rental machinery outlets across Punjab’s tehsils, with a 35-40 billion rupees budget.
On April 1, the Lahore High Court dismissed a case against using former PM Nawaz Sharif’s image on the Kisan Cards. Justice Shahid Karim ruled out the petition by Mashkoor Hussain, who argued that public funds should not be used for personal publicity.
