Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a reward of Rs100 million for Arshad Nadeem, who won the gold medal in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Additionally, she revealed plans to construct a sports city in Mian Channu, named Arshad Nadeem Sports City, in his honour.
Similarly, the Sindh government has declared a Rs50 million reward for Nadeem, recognizing his historic achievement as Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medalist in this sport. Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori further contributed Rs2 million to the athlete.
In another gesture of support, singer Ali Zafar has pledged Rs1 million to Nadeem for his gold medal win. Furthermore, Sindh Government Spokesperson and Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh announced that Nadeem will receive a gold crown. He also stated that the new sports stadium currently under construction in Sukkur will be named after Nadeem to commemorate his extraordinary accomplishment.
In a unanimous decision, the National Assembly passed a resolution to award Nadeem a civil honour for setting an Olympic record with a 92.97m throw and securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 40 years. The resolution, presented during the session on Friday, lauded Nadeem’s exceptional performance in the javelin throw event.
