Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed an unusual collector’s item during an appearance on The Colin and Samir Show podcast – the blue Ardsley Athletics t-shirt worn by actor Jesse Eisenberg while portraying Zuckerberg in the 2010 biographical drama The Social Network.
The XXL shirt, which sold for $4,095 in a Propstore Auction, appeared in pivotal scenes depicting Facebook’s early days in a Palo Alto house where the platform was developed. Notably, the clothing choice was significant as Zuckerberg attended Ardsley High School before Harvard.
“Yeah, this is his [Jesse Eisenberg] shirt. Well, I guess this is my shirt now, but it was his shirt,” Zuckerberg remarked with amusement. When asked if Eisenberg knew about the purchase, the tech billionaire smiled and quipped, “Now he does.”
According to Zuckerberg, the acquisition came about when a friend spotted the costume piece at auction. “One of my friends saw this online, and he said, ‘You have to get this.’ So I was like all right, yeah, sure, let’s get it,” he explained.
The Meta founder shared his complex feelings about the Oscar-winning film, noting he’s only watched it once. “They got all these very specific details, like what I was wearing, correct,” he observed, “but the whole narrative arc around my motivations was completely wrong.”

This unusual memorabilia purchase highlights the enduring cultural impact of The Social Network, which dramatized Facebook’s controversial founding. The shirt represents one of the film’s most recognizable costume elements, appearing during key scenes with Andrew Garfield’s Eduardo Saverin character.
