In a troubling act of public indecency, a Karachi man was apprehended after a video of him stripping naked in front of a woman on Street No. 1 in the Surjani area of Yusuf Goth went viral on social media, sparking outrage from the community.
The video shows the young man performing obscene gestures while his friends encourage him by cheering and filming the act. This blatant disregard for public decency led to significant public backlash and an immediate response from local authorities.
SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastoi has taken serious notice of the event. Although no formal complaint has been filed at the Surjani police station yet, Mastoi assured that the police would investigate and take stringent action against both the perpetrator and the individuals who recorded the incident. Such acts are unacceptable in our society, and we will ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” Mastoi stated.
This is not an isolated case of public indecency in Karachi. Last year, another incident caught on video showed a man exposing himself to female university students on a van along one of Karachi’s busiest roads, Rashid Minhas Road. The video, which was captured by a student and later shared on social media, sparked outrage as it depicted the man, wearing a helmet, performing an indecent act in a clear attempt at harassment.
These incidents underscore a growing concern about public safety and decency, prompting calls for more robust enforcement of laws against public indecency and harassment. The community and authorities are increasingly vigilant, aiming to deter such behaviour and maintain public decorum.
