Muhammad Rafique, a resident of Chatar Plain, has been accused of selling his ex-wife for Rs300,000.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Gulrani Bibi* said her husband passed away in July 2010 and she started living with her brother-in-law Sardaz Khan.

She added Khan arranged her daughter Haziran Bibi’s* marriage to his son Rafique by force and the marriage did not last for long.

Gulrani said Rafique divorced her daughter after three years and sold her to Pachai Khan, a resident of Bana village in Allai tehsil, for Rs300,000.

She claimed police sided with the accused and forced her daughter to change her statement. She urged the authorities to recover her beloved daughter.

Meanwhile, Bana police rejected Gulrani’s claims and said Haziran’s  statement was recorded in the court of Battagram judicial magistrate, where she said she married Pachai willingly.
