The Accountability Court has issued a directive for confiscating all properties and assets in Pakistan belonging to real estate magnate Malik Riaz, the owner of Bahria Town, in connection with a £190m case.
The court, led by Judge Mohammad Bashir, has declared Malik Riaz and his son Ahmed Ali Riaz as proclaimed offenders.
Following their failure to appear in court, the judge ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to seize all their properties, bank accounts, and vehicles. This comprehensive action includes property confiscation and freezing of all bank accounts linked to the father-son duo and NAB custody of their vehicles.
In this case, NAB filed a reference against the jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and others, relating to the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust scam.
The reference implicates seven other individuals, including Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, Farah Gogi, Shahzad Akbar, Barrister Zia ul Mustafa Naseem, and Zulfi Bukhari. The charges allege that Khan and his wife illicitly acquired substantial financial benefits and land from Bahria Town Ltd for legalizing Rs50 billion, which was later recovered and repatriated to Pakistan by the UK.
