The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has disclosed progress in launching Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, in Pakistan.
During a briefing led by Senator Palwasha Khan to the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT, PTA confirmed that Starlink has submitted a licensing application and is currently in discussions with the newly formed regulatory authority.
Before Starlink can initiate its services in Pakistan, it must register with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the PSB. The PTA’s Chairman assured that completing the registration would lead to further proceedings.
In addition, Shanghai Space Technology’s entry into the Pakistani market is poised to boost internet connectivity and propel technological innovation.
