Patrick and Brittany Mahomes promptly extended their sympathies to the affected families of the Kansas City Chiefs’ parade firing victims and launched the #KCStrong Fund.
Patrick and Brittany also showed their commitment to supporting the victims extended beyond words as they visited two injured children in the hospital.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade was marred by a devastating incident in which 22 individuals were injured during a conflict among three young adults, resulting in 11 children sustaining gunshot wounds and necessitating urgent medical attention at a local Kansas City hospital.
Patrick Mahomes, alongside his wife Brittany and in partnership with their ’15 and the Mahomies’ foundation, launched the #KCStrong fund, designed to assist all victims of the incident.
In a tweet, Patrick articulated his intentions: “In the same way #ChiefsKingdom has supported me and my family, we aim to reciprocate that support. Through #KCStrong, we’re establishing an emergency response fund to aid victims and their families, promote violence prevention and mental health services, and support first responders. We invite you to join us and the @15andMahomies foundation in this effort and, if possible, to contribute.”
While the Mahomes family focuses on aiding the victims, the legal proceedings against those responsible for the tragedy at the Kansas City Chiefs parade have commenced. Authorities have charged two juveniles with offences related to the shooting. Although three juveniles were initially detained, one was later found not to be connected to the incident. The investigation continues to determine whether additional individuals were involved.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Kansas City community has sought solace in religious gatherings, vigils, and counselling services, attempting to find peace and comfort during this difficult time.
