Pakistani cinema icon Mahira Khan recently shared an emotional recount of her wedding day, during which her son, Azlan, walked her down the aisle; the moment became a focal point of her October wedding to businessman Salim Karim.

In a private ceremony last year, 39-year-old Mahira exchanged vows in the presence of her close friends and family. The renowned actress, known for performing in “Humsafar” and “Raees,” selected her teenage son to play an important role during this special occasion.

The interview also touched on the implications of remarrying in South Asia, including the challenges of introducing a new man into her child’s life and the societal taboos surrounding such decisions. Mahira’s emotional response highlighted how meaningful the support from her son was against this backdrop.

Mahira became tearful as she reflected on her life’s journey and the kindness she has shown to others. “For every time I was good in life, for every time that I was kind to people or looked after people around me, it was as if God put it all together and blessed me,” she stated. This sentiment underscored her gratitude and her spiritual significance in those moments.

Known for her expressive talent in hit films like “Bol,” “Manto,” and “Actor In Law,” Mahira has long been a beloved figure in Pakistani entertainment. She was previously married to Ali Askari, with whom she shares her son Azlan, until their separation in 2015.
