Liverpool : Liverpool University student Yasmin whose unshaven photos went viral has been bombarded with friend requests on Facebook from men.
Brave Yasmin Gasimova showed off her body yesterday, revealing hairy legs, armpits and belly hair as she told student newspaper The Tab: “Being hairy isn’t scary.” Since then the 19-year-old Liverpool University student’s photos were widely shared on social media, and she revealed that men are now trying to land a hot date with her.
She told her Twitter followers that she had received more than one hundred friend requests on Facebook, adding: “Why the hell am I getting so many friend requests from men?” And women have been telling her that they find her bravery in writing about female body hair inspirational.
In a blog post yesterday she wrote: “In a society where women are expected to shave, I’m not ashamed to admit I don’t.” She recalled being bullied at school when moustache hairs started to sprout on her upper lip when she was just 10-years-old. She added “I stopped caring when I was 11, as having naturally thick, fast-growing hair meant I’d need to waste an hour just to get prickly dots on my legs, which would grow back in a week.”
