A ten-year housemaid was beaten to death over a petty issue in Faisalabad yesterday, police said. Maria, a resident of Okara, was working as a maid in household of Zaigham in the city area of People’s Colony. According to police, Maria was brutally beaten by the house-owner and his wife for “burning the clothes while ironing them”.
Another nine-year maid, Safia, who tried to save Maria, was also assaulted by the couple.
Police arrested the suspects and recovered the injured girl. It should be mentioned here that Maria worked to earn livelihood for her family.
