Lahore High Court (LHC) has formed larger bench for hearing of a petition seeking a court order to stop Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march towards Raiwind.

The bench headed by Justice Shahid Hameed Dar will hear the petitions against the protest. Justice Anwarul Haq and Justice Mohammad Qasim Khan will be other members of the bench.

The bench will resume hearing of the petitions next week.

Earlier, LHC Justice Shahid Karim had asked the chief justice to constitute a larger bench to hear a petition seeking orders to stop Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan from leading a procession to Raiwind, where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have residence and he lives with his family.

A Lahore lawyer Farooq Sattar moved this application in his already pending constitutional petition against the PTI’s 2014 sit-in. Applicant counsel A K Dogar said that Imran Khan has returned to the same situation where he was two years ago, adding that he was again spreading malicious speeches, leading to confrontation among different sections of the society.

He pleaded to the court to issue directions to Imran Khan, restraining him from launching unconstitutional activity surrounding the prime minister’s residence.
