Russian foreign minister repeats assertion that armed men deployed in Ukraine’s peninsula do not answer to Moscow.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Russia cannot order the “self defence” forces in Ukraine’s Crimea back to their bases because the troops do not answer to Moscow.

Speaking in Madrid in remarks shown on Russian television on Wednesday, Lavrov repeated Russia’s assertion that armed men deployed there are not Russian forces and stated that Russia’s Black Sea naval personnel were in normal positions.
