Last date of SIM biometric verification today; no further extension: PTA

Islamabad: The biometric verification of SIMs will be expire today midnight.

According to Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr Syed Ismail Shah, there will b no be extension and nearly 10 million SIMs will be blocked after the due date.

It should be mentioned here that today (Sunday) is the last date for the verification of Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs).

PTA Chairman talking to local media channels said that all non-verified SIMs will be blocked after the deadline of April 12, whereas 77 million SIMs have already been verified.

Sharing other statistics, he added, 12 million SIMs have been blocked so far, remaining SIMs approximately 15 million will be blocked after the deadline is over.

In a question about mentioning and restriction for the foreigners, the PTA chairman remarked all the foreigners may have two SIMs at the maximum, not more.

“The SIMs not verified by April 12 will be closed; but, consumers may get those SIMs reopened only after biometric verification,”.
