A female student was hospitalised after attempting suicide at the University of Lahore. This marks the second such incident at the institution in recent weeks.
According to initial reports, the student, identified as Fatima, is enrolled in the first semester of a pharmacy programme. She attempted to take her life by jumping from the fourth floor of the university building. Rescue teams rushed her to the intensive care unit of a private hospital affiliated with the university. She remains under treatment there.
University sources said Fatima jumped from the same spot where another student had previously attempted suicide. They added that her brother had dropped her off at the campus earlier that morning. No unusual behaviour had been reported before the incident.

Following the episode, the university administration sealed all entry points and issued a notice suspending academic activities indefinitely. Officials said the step was taken to manage the situation and ensure campus safety.
The incident has revived concerns after a similar tragedy last month involving Owais Sultan, a student of the same university. He died after jumping from the fourth floor of the building. According to reports, the incident occurred on December 19 at around 8:10 am.
A fellow student, Hamza, claimed that a teacher prevented Owais from entering his classroom on the day of the incident. He said Owais sat outside the class for some time before jumping. Classmates later said he had appeared distressed on several occasions and had attendance issues.

Hamza further alleged that Owais faced intense mental pressure due to academic restrictions, including being barred from examinations. He also claimed that students often experience added stress related to fees and administrative matters.
