The Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Pervaiz Elahi’s plea to stop police from arresting and conducting a raid at his home.
The LHC Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar called for a comprehensive report from Punjab’s Inspector General of Police, Rao Sardar, and the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) director general on the late-night search at Elahi’s Lahore residence that took place on Saturday.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that not only were First Information Reports (FIRs) consistently filed against Elahi, but daily raids were also conducted.

Justice Dogar inquired which law the court could use to prevent the police from arresting the former chief minister. The petitioner’s counsel cited previous cases where the court issued similar orders.
Last week, Elahi’s son filed a petition with the LHC to halt police actions at their home and protect his family members from arrest. Rasikh claimed that police officials entered their home without search warrants and conducted an operation resembling those in Waziristan or South Punjab’s tribal areas.

Despite the court’s orders, on April 28, the respondents and hundreds of police officers searched the residence, allegedly disrespecting Elahi’s family and damaging the main entrance with their armored vehicle. Police also raided Elahi’s Gujrat residence, marking the fourth such operation at his home.
